Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai catch Travolta fever in ACTION REPLAY!

Aishwarya Rai

Akshay Kumar, the action guru of bollywood who plays lead in Vipul Shah’s upcoming flick ‘Action Replay’ opposite Aishwarya Rai, will be gyrating to a mushy romantic number in the film which will have steps taken directly from John Travolta’s super duper hit ‘Saturday Night Fever’.

Akshay Kumar is a big fan of the Hollywood icon and watched the flick several times to imbibe the spirit and style of the number. Sources close to production house say that Akshay Kumar- Aishwarya Rai number has an exuberant energy and a fashion sense of that era which was so popular at that time. As the Vipul Shah’s ‘Action Replay’ is about the nineteen seventies and moves backwards, the Travolta style fitted in theme of the film perfectly.

Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai, who have come together after a long time (their last flick together was ‘Khakee’ by Raj Kumar Santoshi), are said to have shown terrific chemistry in the number. The romantic number has been filmed in such a way that it goes well with the current generation as well as the older generation who were patrons during the seventies.

Akshay Kumar, who has done several successful movies with Vipul Shah like ‘Namaste London’, ‘Singh Is King’, ‘Welcome’ etc is said to have performed in a superlative way for this character. His character in the film shows more affinity towards the era of seventies than present.

In fact, the film ‘Action Replay’ has been inspired by H G Wells’ ‘Time Machine’ and goes backwards in time. The story of the film depicts the theme and understanding of seventies in a very convincing manner.

The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Vipul Shah has also taken the help from Amitabh Bachchan’s flicks of the seventies. As Amitabh Bachchan was the ruling god of bollywood in the seventies, his flicks had ample material for creating the ambience and environment for ‘Action Replay’. Some mannerism of that era is said to have been taken from Big B’s flicks.

Vipul Shah being a perfectionist, also watched the television programmes of that era to create the right ambience in his own film. Sources say that he especially relied on the live cricket matches to note down dresses and other fashion accessories of the era.
